I have never used a collar pin before, but after receiving the collar pin from Fort Belvedere, I loved it. Easy to use and leaves a very small hole that you cannot really see once the pin is removed. I would highly recommend this.

Product Info

The Golden, Safe Choice

Modeled after the humble safety pin, this collar pin is designed to work with a wide variety of collar types and was, for decades, a regular sight in menswear: historic gentlemen of style like Clark Gable and Fred Astaire wore one regularly, as did Leonardo di Caprio in the 2013 film adaptation of The Great Gatsby.

If you are wearing a pinhole collar, the point will slip neatly through the premade holes and securely hold your collar tips. If your collar has no premade holes, the thin, sharp point will gently pass through the fabric of your collar, pinning both tips in place.

With a luster redolent of Old World Charm, few metals match the allure of classic yellow gold. With an extra thick plating of 2 microns over its sturdy brass body, this pin is designed to last and you need never worry about the plating rubbing off with regular wear.

Please note that extremely wide cutaway collar shirts should not be worn with collar jewelry and our pins will not fit them.

Why You Should Wear Collar Jewelry

A defining style feature of the 1920s and 1930s, collar pins were regularly worn by well-dressed gentlemen during the Golden Age of Menswear to elevate their ties and craft unique, dashing looks. Revive this exceptional sartorial tradition with Fort Belvedere and our efficient safety-pin style that can be worn with most classic collars.

Hugely popular during the heyday of the Golden Age of Menswear in the Twenties and Thirties, collar jewelry has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity thanks to television shows like Boardwalk Empire and Mad Men. Even James Bond is wearing them!

Selection of Safety Pins

Collar Pins Made to Last

As a piece of jewelry that is regularly worn, it is paramount that your collar pin be made to last. That's why we decided to craft ours out of a solid hunk of base metal, either 925 sterling silver or brass. Durable, pliable, and strong, this metal was truly the best material for these collar pins as it won't wear down or break from the repetitive motion of securing and un-securing the point of this collar in.

To give this collar pin a beautiful luster, we then thickly coated its body in a precious metal. Doing so imparts the incredible beauty of gold or platinum to this piece of jewelry without adversely affecting its functionality or durability. Thanks to the thick plating and our particular attention to quality, this collar pin appears as though it is made from solid gold or platinum and will elicit compliments from everyone who sees it.

Make Sure Your Tie Jewelry Will Fit Your Collar

Our collar pin is 51mm or 2" long. As such, it will fit any club collar or pin hole collar and can fit many medium spread collars. It is too short, however, for wide spread and cutaway collars.

How to Wear

When inserting your collar pin, pierce the fabric about ¼ to ⅓ of the way down the height of the collar from its top. You want the pin to sit securely under the tie knot, gently lifting and supporting it.

Don’t insert the collar pin near the points of the collar as this will look odd and won’t allow the collar pin to fulfill its function.

Jewelry That Gets Better with Age

With regular use, your Fort Belvedere jewelry should not require any special cleaning and will naturally develop a beautiful, subtle patina that imparts personality and uniqueness.

If desired, a quality precious metal cleaner can be used sparingly to bring out a brighter shine on the metal, but this is not necessary. All of our jewelry is sturdy enough that you can wear it without concern and can look forward to passing them on to your children or even grandchildren.

What makes this collar pin from Fort Belvedere special?

The recent revival of interest in collar jewelry, sparked by period films and TV shows in which characters wear these accessories, has created a glut on the market as inferior manufacturers pump out cheap examples to take advantage of this fad. Don't be fooled: only reputable dealers like Fort Belvedere produce collar jewelry that is worth your hard earned money.

Our collar pins are solidly constructed out of premium base metal like brass, stainless steel, or 925 sterling silver to ensure durability and the best functionality. We then coat the pins in a thick layer of gold or platinum, creating a piece of jewelry that is indistinguishable from much more expensive examples made from pure precious metals. Because of the genuine heft of this collar pin, it always stays in place, perfectly elevating your necktie. The point of our collar pin is 25% thinner than that of our competitors, eliminating the risk of permanent damage to your shirts.

Fort Belvedere is proud to manufacture collar jewelry to the same exacting standards that were typical during the Golden Age of Menswear when these exceptional accessories rose to prominence.

Details & Specs

Collar Safety Pin by Fort Belvedere Gold front

  • Solid Base Metal Construction

Built to last, this collar jewelry is fashioned out of a durable base metal like brass or stainless steel, unlike most of the cheap and hollow examples put out by other makers. Fabricated by skilled Austrian craftsmen, the workmanship on this piece far exceeds the quality of other collar jewelry on the market today. Each piece is also carefully plated in precious metal so that the best materials are used at every level of construction.

  • 2 Micron Thick Plating

Although we considered crafting this collar jewelry out of solid precious metals, we determined that doing so would be cost prohibitive for the majority of our customers. Therefore, we sought to achieve the best of both worlds by making the body out of a durable and functional base metal but to plate the jewelry with a thick 2 micron layer of gold or platinum. This thick coating will never come off with regular wear and makes the collar jewelry look like it was made from solid gold or silver for a fraction of the price.

  • Noninvasive Point

Thick and bulky collar pins will slowly but surely poke your collar full of holes. To preserve your shirts, Fort Belvedere collar pins are made 25% thinner than our competitors’ pins. Our extra-sharp point glides easily in the fabric, leaving a minuscule hole that minimally impacts your shirt collar or its lining.

  • Stays in Place

Most collar pins available today are poorly proportioned, meaning that the pin will hang down lankly when worn or fail to provide a neat hold between the tips of your collar. Fort Belvedere has designed this pin according to the scale typical of vintage examples, ensuring a dapper look that perfectly elevates your tie knot when the pin is properly sized to the collar.

  • Secure Closure

The scalloped keeper of this collar pin is designed to easily catch the point of this collar pin and hold it securely in place. As a result, you can be sure that your collar pin will remained closed throughout the day, no matter how much you move, so you never need to worry about your collar pin coming undone or falling out.
